Cat Sup

Hi everyone, it’s been a few months, again…

I hope everyone is keeping well, continuing on from the previous post or a quick recap first. Had been trying to reduce the steroids and reducing to 9mg in the morn didn’t work so changing to 5 in the morning and 5 in the evening. It took a while for the body to get used to this and then I changed to 5 and 4. It seemed to be going well but with taking the steroids in the evening I wasn’t sleeping and it was getting gradually worse.

I’m always a little concerned when I don’t sleep with the issues I had previously which I did not like in the slightest. So I ended up going back up to the 10 in the morning which in itself took a while for the body to get used to and settle again. But in a way I was thankful eventually, not too long after I ended up getting Covid, the day before my birthday when I was supposed to being up to the North Coast as the family were all up there for their holidays at the time.

The only reason I checked if it was Covid or not was because I got absolutely no sleep and was feverish and very rough. I was going to phone hospital and they always ask if I’ve done a test so I pre-empted that and went ahead and done one which came back positive. This was about 7 so I thought I would wait a while before phoning as it was just before crossover time. I took my tablets and then things started to settle down and by 10 I was feeling ok again so I didn’t bother phoning them.

The same happened day after day and Friday came and I ran out of diluted juice so I done another test as I needed to go to the shop and it came back negative. This was during August and still now I feel the effects of it, the chest is still more bunged up and also a lot more drained than what I had been. But things definitely are improving.

So hopefully that will just gradually improve and be able to try and get out and get a bit more fresh air than what I had been getting over the last couple of months with everything going on. What hasn’t helped with this to an extent is getting more things done to the house. Bigger things than what had been getting done but exciting things. I got shutters put up, a multi-fuel stove and the attic floored.

The shutters are nice and much better than the vertical blinds that I had before, the stove is great I don’t really use it for the heating part of it and more the aesthetics, it’s lovely to watch especially with the evening drawing in now and the attic getting floored has added a lot more storage space. It was a complete waste before for having another 15 square foot or so really helps, I even got the boards that had been up there made into shelving units to add even more storage, so I’m over the moon with that and has cleared the back bedroom of anything that was left in there so there actually is two bedrooms now.

In the cubby I also used some of the space from under the stairs to extend that a bit and pretty much everything that was in the cubby is now in the storage and even stuff from the kitchen too. That surprisingly has made the most visible difference to clutter that was in the kitchen.

I managed to get the soil into the patch in the front garden and it’s doing too well now, the plants are getting too much for it so will need to cut them back a bit.

With getting the stove in the hearth is smaller than the old one so there are a couple of inches of missing carpet, it needed replaced anyway but I’m not sure whether to go for wood, which would fit in with the feel I’m wanting for the room or carpet which I like more, so it’s a touch choice, there probably is a carpet that would be perfect for what I’m after but I haven’t been looking. I have a big job that I’m getting done at the moment which I am looking forward to.

The big job is getting the house re-rendered and external insulation put in which will really help with keeping the house warm and the look, it will make the wall stick out about 5 inches but that’ll just make it more eye catching. Supposed to last for about 30 years so will probably have moved elsewhere by that stage.

There isn’t much else to really update on, things have been very low key lately with everything and yet nothing that has been happening. With the weather starting to turn a little it’ll be nicer to go outside and not be too warm and will be more comfortable. And so hopefully the next blog will have something a little more exciting in it.

Until then, enjoy.
