2015 didn't exactly start off the best as I had a bad cough, but at least the fevers had passed. But after about a week I felt as if I would be able to get out and about again and do some things. The first thing included a trip to Whitehead, where I discovered a resolution that I might try and keep doing which was to scare yourself once a week. Going around that slippery path with a cliff beside you and boulders lying around was enough to complete week ones scare.
The next trip I had was the next day, 6th and I went around Ards Peninsula, ones side for a lovely sunset and then over the Eastern side for the Moon rising, it was very nice and relaxing. Starting to really like it round there. But the cold air seemed to make my cough a little worse, it just seemed to be catching more rather than there being any type of bug anymore, so I ended up staying in and trying to clear it up completely. It did ease a little but didn't seem to make much of a difference and I ended up starting to go out again more regularly although the time I spent at home I did get some nice pictures from the house.
Another quiet period was when the snow arrived so that put me off gallivanting around for a few days, but once I started again I took another trip down to Victoria Park, normally when I go there it rains but this time around there were only a couple of showers to contend with, which was followed a couple of days later by a trip up Cave Hill. It was the first time I can remember going up and it was very nice up there, quite a view over Belfast, and then a little astrophotography that night when I got homeward.
No rest days this time around a very last minute decision to take a trip up to Tollymore Forest Park, I was originally going to just go to Murlough Beach but I was making good time and went on round to Tollymore. That was a very, very nice day, one of the best days that I've had since my trip up to Portrush back in October, I didn't get round much but I didn't give myself much time there and wanted to get back to the car before sunset. The next trip was a couple of days later to Roselawn and Cairn Wood I think the only thing that made Cairn Wood interesting was the fog through the trees, there wasn't much else to see the route I had taken and Roselawn was a pleasant walk around there.
Today I went out to get a couple of Iridium flares which turned out ok. Tomorrow I am back at hospital so a nice early start and back home to sleep and then I'm off to Liverpool for a few days which will include drinking and that's about all. I have been pushing my luck with my knees lately and it's starting to wear out, my luck and my knees, there are some stronger pains than the normal ones coming along every so often, but I guess it has been worth it.
On Facebook I got rid of a lot of people that I wouldn't sit and have a pint with, in the pub, some remain, but most are now gone certainly helps with the rubbish on the timeline! And the moaners got rid of a few of them too; I have enough negativity in my own life without having to contend theirs too. Onwards to a positive 2015, it's been a good one so far....
Oh the second scare was near getting hit by a car flying round a corner in a oneway street the wrong way then there was climbing up a dodgy path in the wind at cave hill and going down the other side that was frozen and already done a few scary things this week. It's going well.
