Welcome To My Blog

Hello, I’m Alan and this is my blog, I was born and Belfast, Northern Ireland and lived there until 2021 and then moved to Dromore and back to Belfast in 2024. I’ve worked in cinemas, bank, was a maths teacher and then a software developer, I enjoy photography and used to do a lot of walking now I do a lot of reading, watching tv and a bit of photography, if I can.

I started this back in 2013 when I was first diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma, I used this as a bit of a release to feel like I was talking to someone about it and also allowed family and friends to know how I am getting on. And it helped.

The blog was always focused on myself and how my health was as there was a lot of things to talk about. Over the years it has been one thing after another, starting with Haemolytic Anaemia back in about 1997, then ITP, Lymphoma, then a short period of everything being normal and then a return of the ITP in 2018 and back to having Lymphoma in 2019. That’s just the main things, there are copious minor issues that keep cropping up due to the different medications.

Some of the latest things have been with the heart and lungs which have been highlighted more since getting my two hips replace over the last year, and also issues from infections and fracturing my back.

The main “Blog” posts will continue in the format previously where I just talk about me and my health, but I have added some new filters and tabs including TV, Books, Sport, where I will talk about different things I’m watching and reading. Photography will be about different trips I will hopefully be able to make or at least reminiscing on previous adventures I was able to go on when I was more able.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy it.

Alan
